Minister Gjiknuri visits ALBCONTROL on the completion of 4 years investment at Tirana Tower
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Mr. Damian Gjiknuri inspected today the investments made at ALBCONTROL, Air Navigations Services of Albania. Due to $ 6 million investments over the last four years, Tirana Tower has undergone essential operational improvement, increasing security, capacity and quality of services.
“It is a great progress and I am pleased to realise that ALBCONTROL is avant-garde in the region, it has a very modern technology and offers high standard services, compared to other countries” said Minister Gjiknuri during his visit. He emphasized that this investment is the result of appropriate management policies of the company, and moreover, in line with the Albanian Government’s strategy to expand airport infrastructure, ALBCONTROL has undertaken measures for staff training and technology upgrades, creating sufficient capacities to provide quality and safe services.
The Director General of ALBCONTROL, Mrs. Belinda Balluku, stressed more specifically that investments are made to guarantee European safety and quality standards for air navigation services. “We have just finalised the upgrading of Tirana Tower with the latest technological equipment installed in three new consoles to facilitate the work process for air traffic controllers, continuing our dynamic and proactive development as part of this growing industry, such is the aviation field. Albania, like all European countries, should meet required EU standards to operate safely and to provide quality services, which mainly concern the minimization of delays, and we can proudly say that ALBCONTROL provides zero delay services.”
The update of the Skyline System over the last years, brought among other improvements, the automation of the Control Tower functions, improving coordination and exchange of information, as well as data processing, and increased safety during landings and take offs.
During the investment phase, The Remote Surface Management System (RSMS), which includes the installation of Ultra HD Video System, located at the airport premises, captures real time videos of movements on the apron and surrounding area, offers the possibility of visual sight during landing and take-off, or on unusual situation. The activation of RSMS has significantly increased the visual control of TXW Whiskey, in the main and north part of the apron, the visual contact during landing and take-off and the visibility during night and bad weather.
Part of this 4-year investment, the Centralized Rostering System and Personal Rostering System has enabled online communication with all users, concerning every request through the online Personal Rostering System (PRS). PRS can also be downloaded as an application available for smartphones (Android and iPhone).
