Air Navigation Services of Albania
National Air Traffic Agency was established in 1992 as a state-owned enterprise and it was transformed into a joint stock company in 1999. On November 15th, 2013, the company changed its name to ALBCONTROL, Air Navigation Services Provision of Albania.
Since 2002, Albcontrol is a member of EUROCONTROL, joined CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organization) in 2009, and starting from January 2016, it is a full member of the CANSO Europe Region.
As a result of changes in civil aviation legislation and its alignment to international law, the public entity Albcontrol has been established by the law no. 40/2024 “For air navigation service provider Albcontrol”.
Albcontrol is a public, non-budgetary entity whose activity constitutes a public service and is carried out under the supervision of the minister responsible for air transport issues.
Albcontrol is a non-profit entity.
The Minister responsible for air transport issues is the highest authority in the field of civil aviation.
Albcontrol, in exercising its activity, applies the policies of the Albanian state in the field of civil aviation and reports to the minister at least once a year.
The air navigation services provided by Albcontrol are:
· Air traffic management (ATM);
· Communication, navigation and surveillance services (CNS);
· Aeronautical information services (AIS);
· Meteorological services for air navigation (MET);
· Flight procedure design services (FPD).
ANTA sh.a. was established as state-owned enterprise in 1992. It was transformed into a joint stock company under the name of National Air Traffic Agency on February the 3rd, 1999. This company manages and controls the airspace of Albania (FIR) in accordance with the international standards of air navigation.
ALBCONTROL manages and controls the airspace of Albania (FIR) in accordance with the international standards of air navigation. Since 2003 ALBCONTROL is a member of EUROCONTROL, joints CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organization) in 2009 and starting from January 2016 it is a full member of CANSO Europe Region.
ALBCONTROL is a 100% state owned joint stock company, property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy. ALBCONTROL was established in 1992 as state-owned enterprise and it was transformed into a joint stock company under the name of National Air Traffic Agency on February the 3rd, 1999.
ALBCONTROL, is our new name in order to be closer to the state and national identity, to better represent the services it provides and to be closer it’s European sister companies, since the 15th of November 2013.
